We're excited to launch with The St. James, adding our assessment technology to their digital performance training and wellness platform, Strivers. Take a quick read about how we're helping The St. James better serve the needs of their members and their trainers.
If you've ever walked through the doors of a big box gym or health club...
At some point you have probably looked at the rows of cardio equipment, racks of free weights or acres of open floor space and wondered, “what should I do?” You might cautiously try to avoid aggravating that niggling back ache, fall into a comfortable routine or try something you saw online… and you’ve almost certainly wondered more than once, “am I doing this right?”
If you’re a trainer working in such a facility, you likely care deeply about being healthy and fit, and want to bring the same to your clients. But even if you’re one of the few who performs thorough assessments to better understand the movement needs of the people you’re serving, this information frequently ends up shelved in a folder somewhere deep in the staff area. We know because we’ve been there.
If you’re a gym owner or operator, you’re probably in the never ending loop of trying to reduce trainer turnover, improve client retention, and create effective programs or gym offerings for your members.
In the era of hybrid digital and physical fitness models, health clubs and big box gyms know they need to find new ways to meet their members wherever they are on the fitness continuum. Today’s health conscious gym members are gravitating to services that tell them more about their body and what they should do next on their health journey. It has become crucial to engage members with more thoughtful, personalized experiences that enable them to progress in a way that works for them.
To date, there hasn’t been a simple and reliable way to assess and address the needs of gym-goers, trainers and owner/operators alike:
Offering personalized, ongoing guidance to every member, at any scale
Helping trainers understand the ever-evolving MSK needs of their clients and how to make more meaningful interventions over time
Informing program creation for gym operators based on actual member needs and preferences, not assumptions or trends
At movr, we're changing that.
Our partnership with Strivers x The St. James
This is why we are so excited to announce our partnership with The St. James (TSJ) and their digital app, Strivers. The St. James is a leading performance, wellness and entertainment platform with multiple facilities across the United States. Strivers is their digital platform, built for TSJ members. Craig Dixon, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of The St. James had this to say of their technology:
"At The St. James, we are building an omni-channel Performance Training and Lifestyle business designed to maximize human potential. We developed Strivers to deliver The St. James experience anywhere across the globe, focusing on the whole athlete. We've leveraged our technology to deliver world-class training and instruction from our coaches and trainers, delivering custom programs designed for groups or individuals."
Strivers & The St. James were looking to streamline how they collect and use assessment data from their members. They chose to integrate movr in order to better provide assessment information to trainers and monitor changes over time, make better-informed programming choices, and connect individual members (in their app and their gyms) to personalized exercise experiences, programs and content.
"movr was founded on a gym floor with the goals to democratize movement science and make improving movement health accessible for anyone interested in living a healthier life. Bringing movr assessments to the Strivers platform and The St. James members was a no-brainer in helping scale the ability for members to measure and improve how their bodies move and feel," said Aaron de Jong, Co-Founder and CEO of movr.
Integrating with movr gives Strivers an effective way to gather lifestyle information and movement assessments from members of all ages and fitness backgrounds. It also gives gym operators and senior leaders the tools they need to better understand member needs and evolve club programming accordingly.
"Our partnership with movr is a natural extension of our ethos. The movement and lifestyle assessments will serve as a guidepost for our users and enhance our coaches' ability to craft programs designed to better the health and wellness of each user."
–Craig Dixon, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of The St. James
The age-old practice of selling as many gym memberships as possible to offset churn has never worked well for individuals, trainers or for gym owners. Modern solutions must incorporate simple technology that makes life easier and improves outcomes for everyone involved.
By implementing an objective, digitally-enabled assessment collection process, The St. James is taking a massive step toward better meeting the needs of their members and enabling their trainers to do a better job with their clients.
